New Patients

At Rousso Medical Center we are inviting new patients to join our family friendly dental practices with a choice of high-quality routine and cosmetic dental treatments, a choice of payment options, flexible opening times and family appointments available on request – visiting us couldn’t be easier.

As a new patient at Rousso Medical Center, the first appointment we’d like to arrange for you is a New Patient Examination. This appointment will involve you completing a Medical History Form, followed by an X-ray (if necessary) and a thorough dental examination of the health of your gums, teeth, mouth and to discuss any treatment preferences and nuances you may have, any concerns you may have with your smile, and any requirements you may have to make either some small tweaks or big improvements to your smile. Please mention that you would like a family appointment when you speak to a member of our reception team to book your appointment. Please note that all appointments are available on a first come, first served basis. We will therefore do our best to accommodate your preferred time and date for appointments however they are subject to availability.

Dental check-up

For the greatest preventative approach to dental care, a good daily oral care regime should be accompanied with regular visits to your dentist and dental hygienist. Passionate about helping our patients smile with confidence in an affordable, professional and convenient way, our aim is to help our valued patients enjoy a happy, healthy smile for life. Everything we do is therefore about providing modern, caring and ethical dentistry for the long-term benefit of all the family. You should consider having a check-up on a regular basis to maintain good dental health and particularly if there are any aspects of your teeth or gums that cause you concern or you wish to have improved.Great oral hygiene is not only an essential part of maintaining a healthy smile and keeping your natural teeth for as long as possible, it also helps to avoid the pain and expense of dental treatments.

Not only can we make sure that your oral hygiene is exemplary, we can spot potential issues early and treat them before they become a problem by thorough examination of your mouth, paying particular attention to your teeth, gums and tongue. We’ll be looking for the warning signs of tooth decay and gum disease – some of which may be too subtle for you to have noticed for yourself. Sometimes we might need to take X-rays to help us check for these warning signs. The whole process is quick and painless.

Oral cancer screening

Mouth Cancer is usually painless and you may not see an early lesion and this alone is good reason to get regular checks. If detected early mouth cancer has the best chance of treatment successfully. During your dental check-up we are looking for any abnormalities but more specifically early signs of mouth cancer.

What next?

Once we have all this information, we are in a position to assess your oral Health and suggest a plan of treatment that may be required. Of course, you may not require any treatment and just some further preventive advice, but whatever you require we will discuss with you so you are fully informed.
So you can see an Oral Health Assessment is so much more than just checking your teeth. Is it time for your visit?

White Fillings

Fillings are also used to repair cracked or broken teeth and teeth that have been worn down from misuse (such as from nail-biting or tooth grinding). The filling is used to restore the tooth structure by sealing the cavity, which occurs due to the tooth decay caused by bacteria. To fix cavity, our dental team will remove the decayed part of the tooth and then ‘fill’ the area.

We are a mercury-free practice. However, many people still have silver/mercury fillings in their mouths from years past. These fillings are not particularly pleasing to the eye. Fortunately, silver fillings can safely be replaced with Tooth Colored Restorations or composite dental fillings.

Advantages of composites

The shade/color of the composite fillings can be closely matched to the color of existing teeth.
In addition to use as a filling material for treating decay, composite fillings can also be used to repair chipped, broken, or worn teeth.

Root Canal Therapy

This is a simple treatment that can save your natural teeth and prevent the need of dental implants or bridges. Today, with modern technology and updated methods, root canal therapy is easier and more comfortable than ever.

Why is root canal treatment needed?

It is needed, if the pulp (nerves and blood supply ‘chamber’) becomes infect caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips, or repeated dental procedures. If such a tooth is left untreated for a long time it may not be possible to save the tooth anymore and it will have to be extracted.

Who needs root canal treatment?

Decay that extends into the nerve causing throbbing or intermittent pain in the tooth.

Continuous, radiating pain travelling from the tooth to the jaw, ear and head.

Patients who complain of abnormal response to hot or cold foods or drinks.

Patients with a history of past trauma, significant discoloration, resulting in tooth death.

Patients with dental abscess around gums of particular teeth (sinus/fistula/endo-perio)

Does it hurt?

No. A local anaesthetic ensures that it is completely painless, and it should feel no different to having a filling done.

How is a root canal performed?

This injured pulp is removed and the root canal system is thoroughly cleaned using special tools. After the bacteria has been removed, the root canals are hermetically filled in using special root canal filling material. Then the tooth itself is restored. During the whole treatment process a few dental radiographs are made and our dentists also use an electronic apex locator to determine the exact length of the root canal that ensures the safety and effectiveness of the root canal treatment.

What if it happens again?

Root canal treatment is usually very successful. However, if the infection comes back the treatment can be repeated.

What if I don’t have the treatment?

The alternative is to have the tooth out. Once the pulp is destroyed, it can’t heal and it is not recommended to leave an infected tooth in the mouth. Although some people would prefer an extraction, it is usually best to keep as many natural teeth as possible.

Will the tooth be safe after treatment?

Yes. However, it is better to restore the tooth with screw post and crown to provide extra support and strength to the tooth.

Dental Hygiene

Did you know that long term plaque build-up (and subsequent gum disease which happens when the bacteria in plaque attacks our gums below the surface to make them red and inflamed) is one of the most common causes of tooth decay and eventual tooth loss in the world?
